With the athletic schedule kicking off in the upcoming weeks, the Diboll Lumberjacks recently finalized their coaching staff for the 2016-17 season.
Eight new faces will be on the sidelines in their efforts to lead Diboll to successful seasons.
“We are very excited about the new coaches here at Diboll,” Diboll athletic director and head coach Blake Morrison said. “They bring a lot of experience and winning attitude to Diboll athletics.”
James Davis will take over as head basketball and varsity receivers coach. Kevin Hurley was the head basketball coach last season and Davis will be taking the position recently held by Jacob Powell, who moved to LaPorte.
Cris Stump is the new offensive coordinator and head track coach. He replaced Trey Allen, who moved to Jasper.
Chance Johnson will now be the head powerlifting and varsity offensive line coach. He is taking the place of Scott Taylor, who moved to Jarrell.
Brett Purcell will be a junior high coach, replacing Adam Camp, who moved into an administration position in Diboll.
Morgan Bryan will take over as the head softball and assistant volleyball coach. She will take over for Ashley Martin, who took the head softball coaching position in Tatum.
Courtney Davis will take over as head track coach along with assistant basketball and junior high volleyball coach. She will replace Alex Carrillo, who moved to Mexico.
Jessica Weaver will take over as a junior high girls coach, replacing Megan Dulude, who took a full-time teaching job in Diboll.
Ashley Rios will take over as assistant volleyball coach for Laura Compean, who retired.
Morrison said he is excited about the upcoming athletic season.
“This is the best time of the year other than Christmas and Easter,” Morrison said. “We are ready to get the kids up here at camp and start the 2016 journey.”
