Easter egg hunt
The City of Diboll and Diboll Civic Club members are having an Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Old Orchard Park. Organizers are seeking volutneers and donations for prizes. For more information, to volunteer or donate prizes, call Loretta Christmas at 936-829-4888.
There will be a Community Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. Sunday, March 31, at Old Orchard Park’s pavilion. Everyone is invited.
Area Methodist Easter services
A Maundy Thursday worship service will be at Burke UMC will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 28.
A Good Friday service will be at Diboll First UMC at 6 p.m. Friday, March 29.
The Community Easter Sunrise Service will be at 7 a.m. Sunday, March 31, at Old Orchard Park.
Easter worship will be at 11 a.m. at Diboll First UMC, followed by Easter egg hunt.
Ryan Chapel Easter
Ryan Chapel will have an Easter egg hunt will be held for all children at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, followed by a hot dog lunch.
Easter sunrise service will begin at 7 a.m. Sunday, March 31, followed by breakfast in the fellowship hall.
The Deep East Texas Archeological Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 1, at the Newton County History Museum.
The program topic, “In Search of the Dan,” will be presented by DETAS member Delma Briggs of Leesville, La. The steamer, “Dan,” was a Confederate ship captured by the Union navy and ultimately destroyed. The Sabine River may serve as the reservoir for the remains of this ship.

The Diboll Civic Club meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Community Room of the Housing Authority.. Operation Clean-Sweep will be discussed.
Eastern Star dinners
The Order of the Eastern Star in Burke will have a plate-lunch scholarship fundraiser on April 5. Chicken & dressing, yams, green beans, rolls and dessert will be $7 a plate. Stop & Shop

Learn to Dance
If you want to learn how to dance or freshen up on your dance skills, the SPJST, in Lufkin, is having dance lessons April 2, 9, 16 and 23. The location is 197 Hughes Road. The Angelina County master Gardeners are holding their annual plant sale on Saturday, April 6, until 2 p.m. It will be held at The Farmer’s Market on South Medford Drive in Lufkin. Plants available include annuals, perennials, roses and fruit trees suitable for our area. Proceeds from the sale are used to support programs and projects for the community. Singing cancelled for fundraiser
The Saturday, April 6, singing at the Beulah Congregational Methodist Church has been cancelled. Everyone is encouraged to attend the Relay for Life fundraiser at 6 p.m. April 6 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin. This Southern Gospel singing will feature the Stanleys, Waymakers, Martin Family, Narrow Road QT, Ransomed QT, Bennie Boles Trio, & Crossmen QT. Jack Havard will be the MC. A love offering will be received for cancer research. Calvary Baptist is located on Montrose Street off the intersection of Denman & TImberland. The next singing at the Beulah Congregational Methodist Church will resume May 4.
St. Paul’s United Methodist Church will be having a Spring Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13. They will have baked goods, white elephant rummage sale, silent auction items, quilt give-a-way, handmade crafts, plants and much more. There is a fish fry starting at 11 a.m. Other vendors from the area will be there as well. Come out and enjoy the fun.
