Kind words can encourage people who are down

“An anxious heart weighs a man down but a kind word cheers him up.” -
“Woo Hoo! Good job, buddy!” We had just bragged on Eli as we read the email that his teacher sent. He did an awesome job on all of his testing, and his teacher said she was very proud of him. Eli was beaming with pride.
Emma was smiling ear to ear as I told her and her dad about the email her teacher sent. She was such a joy and very respectful. We “oohed” and “ahhed” over her too.
Next, we bragged on Ellie for getting smiley faces every day at school so far. To be honest, we weren’t sure this was possible, but we are so proud that Ellie’s been good for her teacher. Matter of factly, she told us that she’s a big kid now.
This week, a student was headed to my classroom with a not-so-happy look. As she walked in, I complimented her shoes. A couple of other girls liked them as well, and the girl’s whole attitude changed. She was smiling and laughing- all because we said something nice about her shoes.
At the pep rally after a long week of exhaustion for me, a parent told me that her child loved my class and gushed about learning so much in just the first wee. She wished more teachers were like me. “GO ME!” I thought. Her words totally made my day- week even!
KIND WORDS! Kind words can be uplifting and encouraging when people are down, overwhelmed, or anxious. Help build others up! I challenge you to be kind to others today.
