Tree of Light

The annual Pilot Club Tree of Light ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in the Ellen and Buddy Temple Community Room of the TLL Temple Memorial Library. An inspirational program is planned, followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree, located on the front lawn of the library.

Waffle Bake

The 57th annual Lufkin Rotary Club Waffle Bake will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4-5 at Angelina College. Adult tickets are $4 in advance, and $5 at the door, Children’s tickets are $2 in advance, and $3 at the door. For more info call Valena Spradley at 936-633-5807.

White getting out of day care!

Shirley White is retiring from Katherine Sage Temple Child Care Center . The center’s Board of Directors, parents and friends are hosting a celebration at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Lottie & Arthur Temple Civic Center. For more information, call Chasity at 936-829-5783.

 

 

The History Center and the Diboll Historical Society invites the community to their annual Christmas Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at The History Center, 102 N. Temple Drive in Diboll. Light refreshments will be served in a come-and-go event that will celebrate Christmas through fellowship.

 

 

Diboll PTSA will host “Breakfast with Santa” at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Civic Center. Children will be able to have breakfast, make a craft, hear a story from an elf, and visit with Santa! Photos with Santa will be made of each child. Cost is $5 for children and $3 for adults. Tickets must be purchased or reserved by Friday, Dec. 2. To reserve tickets call 936-829-4817. Orders can be sent to both the primary or elementary campuses.

Santa’s Secret Shop

The 30th annual “Santa’s Secret Shop” is coming to Diboll schools Dec. 4-13. Students will be able to shop for family and friends in “secret.” The shop will be open daily from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the elementary campus. The shop will be open Dec. 6 at primary. It will also be open following the Dec. 10 PTSA meeting at the elementary campus. Volunteers are welcomed. Contact Jan Wilkerson at 829-4817 to sign-up to help.

Choir to perform

The H.G. Temple Elementary Choir will be performing at 6 p.m., Dec. 10, at the December PTSA meeting. The meeting will be held in the H.G. Temple cafetorium. Plan to come out and get into the Christmas Spirit and support the choir.

Basket silent auction

The annual basket silent auction sponsored by Diboll PTSA will take place Dec. 2-7. Baskets will move from campus-to-campus during the week with final bidding taking place during the “Breakfast with Santa” event at the Civic Center on Dec. 7. Bidding closes at 11 a.m. Baskets can be viewed at the administration building on Monday; primary on Tuesday; junior high on Wednesday, high school on Thursday., and at the H.G. Temple campuses on Friday.

 

Christmas in the Park

The Diboll Civic Club is sponsoring Christmas in the Park on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. Area ministers, a combined choir from First Baptist and the United Methodist Churches, and the elementary choir will take part in the program

Scouts in need

Tiger Cub and Cub Scouts in Groveton are in need of uniforms and accessories for their needy troop members. Any donations of used Scout stuff such as shirts, shorts, patches, belts, neck ties and camping equipment is appreciated. For more information, call Matt Haggard at 936-209-6989.

Interagency Coalition

The Coalition is hosting the Interagency Coalition meeting this month. The meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19th at the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce Community Room. The guest speaker will be J. Hoxi Jones, a Regional Partnership Specialist of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Who will be discussing the new affordable health care act. Culinary showcase

The final Culinary Arts showcase is Dec. 2. The Diboll High School Culinary Arts class works with the Diboll Family Literacy Center to share their talents and teach others how to make fun, family-friendly treats, tablescapes, decorations, etc.

They still have a need for good quality copies of 1945, 1950 and 1954, and there will be more needed as they move forward, including good copies of the H.G. Temple High School annuals. For more information, call The History Center at 936-829-3543.

Tangled Threads

T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library in Diboll invites is organizing “Tangled Threads” for crafters of all ages. The program is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month. All skill levels are welcomed. Please bring your own hooks, yarn, and supplies. “Tangled Threads” will on the second Tuesday of the month in the Community Room at the library.
