Hot, cold punch good for holiday refreshments

Here are a couple of punches that fit the bill for the holidays. One is hot and one is cold and they are both delicious.

Traditional Apple Cider

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

2 tsp. allspice

2 tsp. cloves

1/4 tsp. salt

5 sticks cinnamon

4 qts. apple cider

Let cider simmer for 10 minutes. Add brown sugar, salt and spices. Simmer another 5 minutes

Before serving, strain through cheesecloth and sprinkle with nutmeg.

Holiday Punch

1 qt. apple juice

1 qt. cranberry juice cocktail

1/2 cup lemon juice

pineapple chunks

Mix juices and chill. Pour into punch bowl and garnish wth canned drained pineapple chunks.
