Several enjoying lunch at Candi’s Cakes & Deli

Ernest and I were having lunch at Candi’s Cakes & Deli for her Friday lunch special of chicken & dumplings. It was crowded and we sat with Martha and Ray Carswell.  The Carpenter’s Way Women’s Ministry Friday Lunch Friends were there for their monthly fellowship and food.  Lisa Crow said that she had eaten four days.  The group was having a good time.  Candi’s is open in the old Thompson’s Deli location on Ellis Avenue.

My LHS Classmate Barbara Durham DuPree was the featured professional artist at the Night of Arts at Huntington High School last week that included art from the high school students.  She had 8 of her water color paintings on display.  She said it was fun seeing students that she taught and friends and family.  She has invited me to her house to see the paintings when she gets her studio in shape.

We were at Logan’s Roadhouse and saw Nancy and Ron Mize (Grammy and Pappy) hosting a family birthday party for MacKinzie who was 7 years old.  Parents Kristine and Jay Eagle were there and Teresa and Chad Jackson.  Saturday was her party for friends, and they went to the Cinema to see “Rio 2”.  I told Nancy that I was not up on my cartoon movies.  Her birthday was April 23.

Small World again.  Ernest and I were at the combined Lt. Nathan Gann Sons of the American Revolution and the Milton Irish Chapter Sons of the Republic of Texas meeting.  We sat across the table from Abbot Hargraves and daughter Shelia and husband Tony Torres and daughter Amanda.  Sheila and my Charlie Jumper graduated together in 1977.  She told me that when Charlie had his wreck in 1980 on State Hwy 7 out of Crockett it was her aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Roland Murray,  that found Charlie and called the ambulance.  I never knew who they were or ever thanked them for what they did that night.  Charlie was coming back from summer camp at Fort Hood and went to sleep.  The young doctor at the Crockett Hospital took almost 30 stitches in Charlie’s face and he has no scar today.  We were pleased to learn that the doctor was an Aggie!!!!  This is truly a small world and I have things happen to me often.
