Temple alumni celebrate history with Wall of Honor

A bit of Diboll htory was recognized on Saturday afternoon, June 20, as the first inductees to the H.G. Temple Alumni Memorial Wall were honored.

Five former principals and one former teacher from H.G. Temple High School were honored at an event in which several alumni from the school were on hand to attend and pass on memories from the school.

Those honored were J.W. Hogg, James Hurdle, William Dav, C.O. Bradley, H.C. Kenyon and Willie Massey.

“Th a great way for the htory of the school to live on,” Diboll ISD Superintendent Gary Martel said. “The young people can see th and ask questions so they can learn a little bit about the htory of the school.”

A wide variety of activities in store for the coming year at the T.L.L. Temple Memorial Li-brary. Many of the events will be made possible by grants from the T.L.L. Temple Foundation Keeler Grant Program. Funds totaling almost $19,000 were approved and earmarked for li-brary programming and for the Alliance for Educational and Cultural Enrichment in Diboll (AECED) program.

About $11,500 will go to AECED. Th program has been in extence since the 1990s, with the library becoming the fcal agent last year. Its goal to expose the children of Diboll to a variety of arttic and cultural experiences.

The majority of the money will be used to pay for students to attend various arttic performanc-es at both Stephen F. Austin State University and Angelina College.
